Week 27 - Jesus Is Baptized -
Bible Time FUN Through the Bible
Kids Bible Lesson 27 - Jesus Is Baptized

Welcome to week 27!

This week your children learn the story of Jesus is baptized.

The Bible story “Jesus Is Baptized” shows us that even Jesus is obedient to God. Jesus lived a sin-free life, but to show us how our walk with God should be, Jesus had John baptize him. Jesus’s baptism began his ministry.

In this Bible lesson, the children will learn that Jesus’s obedience to God is our perfect example

If you haven’t read the introduction to Bible Time yet, I recommend you read the outline about the Bible lessons for children first.

in the water bible craft activity

The baptism of Jesus was very special.

A voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Then the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus in the form of a dove.

The girls made a Jesus Bible activity that will be a reminder that Jesus was obedient to God.

We used the "In The Water Bible Craft Activity" to remind the girls that Jesus’ obedience made God the Father happy.

dove Bible craft

After Jesus was baptized, the Spirit of God rested on Him. Jesus heard a voice from heaven say, “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”

We made a Bible craft to be a reminder that God the Father was pleased with His Son.

This Jesus is baptized Bible craft can be made by cutting white cardstock or construction paper into a dove shape.

Next, glue white feathers to the dove and add an eye and an orange colored beak. (We used the “Dove Bible Craft" found in the Bible Time Family Fun Pack).

We reminded the girls that even Jesus was obedient to God the Father.

shining for god bible experiment

Baptism represents the cleansing of sin through the immersion in water. Jesus lived a sinless life, but received baptism to show us the way to please God.

We did a simple Bible experiment to represent baptism. To do this experiment, you will need: dirty pennies, two small bowls, salt, vinegar and cotton swabs.

Here are the instructions:

1. Pour 1/4 cup of vinegar into a small bowl. Give the children a cotton swab and the pennies. Have them dip the cotton swab into the vinegar to clean the pennies. (The vinegar alone will not clean the pennies).

2. Now, have the children mix one tablespoon of salt into the vinegar and stir until the salt is dissolved. Have the children place the pennies into the mixture, then brush the cotton swabs against the pennies. You will see the amazing results!

3. Explain that the vinegar and salt combined are like the Holy Spirit. We can try to be obedient on our own, but we cannot do it in our own strength. We can only be obedient by asking for the Holy Spirit's help.

We explained that when we are baptized, we can be cleaned from all of our sins.

Follow His Footsteps bible Activity

Jesus came to earth to be an example for everyone.

He wants each person to follow in His footsteps.

The girls had fun testing their balance while they learned what it means to follow in Jesus’ footsteps.

This children's activity can be made by creating foot shapes using white cardstock or construction paper. Then, write down practical ways to follow in Jesus’ footsteps (such as: be obedient, share, be kind, etc...).

Next, talk about what each footstep means, while the children step on it. (We used the rhyming activity “Born to Be the Savior” found in the Bible Time Family Fun Pack).

Jesus is our perfect example.

He came to this world to show us the way we should live. The baptism of Jesus was just one example of what God wants us to do.

The girls did a great job matching and writing the correct words in the correct boxes. When my daughter Allie finished the "Perfect Fit Bible Printable", she said, “Mom, I’m so proud of myself!”

tell me about it bible puzzle

Jesus is Baptized, is a very special Bible story because Jesus is showing us that baptism is important to God.

When we are baptized, we are making a covenant with God that we want to live our lives in him.

During the "Tell Me About It Bible Puzzle", we created a story map and talked about the some important facts in the story.
