Kids Bible Lesson 10 - Baby Moses

During week 10, we introduced the girls to baby Moses. This Bible story demonstrates God's ability to accomplish his purposes in all circumstances. Because God had a plan for Moses even when Moses was a baby, God protected Moses so Moses could fulfill his purpose.

During this Bible lesson, the children learn God always watches over us and will protect us from harm. They also learn God has a plan for each of us. Happy learning!

The key concepts that we focused on this week are:

God has a plan for us.
God will protect us from harm.
God watches over us all the time.

You can also come up with your own key concepts.

Bible Verse for kids
The Bible verse for this lesson is Exodus 2:10 ICB “The king’s daughter named him Moses, because she had pulled him out of the water”.
This Bible verse should be simple enough for your toddler to memorize after a week of practice.

Bible Story Tips

We read “Baby Moses” beginning on page 19 of the children's Bible Storybook called Bible-Time Stories and Rhymes.
During story, draw attention to the key concepts for this lesson.
Don't forget to ask questions related to the story, for example, “Why did Moses’ mom have to put him in the basket?”
This week our daughters learned about about God’s great protection. They also learned that God has a plan for each of us
After the Bible story and discussion session, we stand up and do the interactive rhyme found in the Bible storybook.

Prayer
After the story and rhyme, we say a prayer that is related to the Bible story. You can either have your children repeat after you or allow them to come up with their own prayer.

The Bible song for this week is "He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands".
We cast the song from YouTube to the television, so our children can see the motions on the big screen.

Baby in a Basket bible Craft

This was a fun craft that helped the girls practice their sewing skills. They did very well sewing the yarn through the basket. We talked about how God kept baby Moses safe in the basket, so he can be found by the princess.

- This Bible craft can be made by cutting a basket shape out of brown card stock paper. Then, punch holes along the bottom of the basket.

- Next, have the children sew a piece of yarn through the holes (adding tape to the end of the yarn makes it easier to thread through the holes.) You can also add a baby cutout for the children to glue to the basket.

A Basket for Moses Bible Activity

Here’s another Bible activity that helped develop the girls fine motor skills. The girls loved sewing the basket craft so much, I decided to have them do a basket weaving activity too!

- Pharaoh had a plan to get rid of all the male babies, but God had a better plan for Moses. We talked about how God has a plan for all of his people and he will help us fulfill his plan.

- Try the Basket for Moses Bible Activity for toddlers or pre-schoolers, to help remind the children that God has a plan for them too.

I Can Do Important Things Bible Activity

Even when Moses was just a baby, God had a plan for him. As Moses grew, God began to fulfill his plan for Moses’s life.

I wanted the girls to understand that they are not too young to do important things for God. This week I let them help me more with some of the important things that need to be done around the house. They really enjoyed being big helpers. I explained that God wants them to be big helpers for him and he will help them.

- You can do this activity by explaining to the children that God loves them very much and that he can use them to do great things. Let them help them do important things, so they can feel special.

- Explain to the children that God has a plan for each of us and that he can use us no matter how small we are.

God Watches Over Us Bible Game

God watches over us all the time. This was a great opportunity for us to talk to the girls about time. Using the God Watches Over Us Game found in the Bible Time Family Fun Pack, we had fun learning about time.

Baby Moses Down the River Bible Activity

This was a fun activity where the girls got to help baby Moses safely down the river!

You can either make a clock for the children or use a clock (or watch) that you have and talk about how the clock works.

- Remind the children that God is watching over us all the time.

While using the Baby Moses Down the River Bible Activity, I reminded the girls that God is our protector and we can feel safe with him.

Moses Puzzled Bible Game

We finished up the week recapping the events of the Baby Moses Story.

- The girls did a great job putting the puzzles together for the different events of the story, using the Moses Puzzled Bible Game.

We explained to the girls how God watches over each one of us, every moment of every day.
