Week 17 - Samson the Strong -
Bible Time FUN Through the Bible
Kids Bible Lesson 17 - Samson the Strong

Welcome to week 17!

This week the children learned about Samson and the special strength God gave him.

Samson was special to God. God wanted Samson to deliver his people from the Philistines. God asked Samson not to cut his hair because Samson’s great strength was in his hair. Even though Samson was tricked and his hair was cut, God forgave Samson and still gave him the strength to fulfill his purpose.

While learning about the Bible story of Samson, the children learn that God made us for a reason and that we are very special to him. God does hear us when we pray, and all our strength comes from him.

Happy learning!

If you haven’t read the introduction to Bible Time yet, I recommend you read the outline about the Bible lessons for children first.

The key concepts that we focused on this week are:

  • We are all special to God.

Bible Verse for kids
The Bible verse for this lesson is Judges 16:28 (ICB)

“God, please give me strength one more time”.
This Bible verse should be simple enough for your toddler to memorize after a week of practice.

Bible Story Tips

  • We read “Samson the Strong” beginning on page 33 of the children's Bible Storybook called Bible-Time Stories and Rhymes.

  • During story, draw attention to the key concepts for this lesson.

  • Don't forget to ask questions related to the story, for example, “Who tricked Samson into revealing where his strength came from?”

  • The girls saw how God can give us great strength and when we pray God hears us.

  • After the Bible story and discussion session, we stand up and do the interactive rhyme found in the Bible storybook

Prayer
After the story and rhyme, we say a prayer that is related to the Bible story. You can either have your children repeat after you or allow them to come up with their own prayer.

Bible Song about Samson the Strong

  • The Bible song for this week is "My God is So Big".

  • We cast the song from YouTube to the television, so our children can see the motions on the big screen.

Samson the Strong bible coloring Page

While our daughters colored the Samson the Strong Bible Coloring Page, we talked about how God heard Samson’s prayer and gave him his strength back so he could defeat his enemies.

"A Special Do" bible activity

- Samson was special to God. His long hair gave him superhuman strength.

- While we worked on the "A Special Do" Bible Activity, the girls practiced their scissor cutting skills, while they learned that they are very special to God.

Long Hair Bible craft

God asked Samson not to cut his hair and in return he would give him great strength.

- We made the "Long Hair" Bible craft to remind the girls that they too are special to God.

- This Samson Bible craft for toddlers can be made by cutting a band out of construction paper, that is large enough to fit around the child’s head.

- Next, attach black construction paper to the band and then cut strips up all the way to the band, so that the black strips look like locks of hair. (We used the “Long Hair Bible Craft" found in the Bible Time Family Fun Pack.)

- While working on the Samson Bible craft, remind the children that they are special to God.

Strong Chains Bible craft Activity

When Delilah tricked Samson and his hair was cut, Samson's enemies were able to chain him up because he was no longer strong. They thought Samson was defeated, but God was not finished yet.

- While the girls created the fun chain craft called Strong Chains Bible Craft Activity, we learned different facts about Samson’s great strength.

- We reminded that our daughters that God can give us strength too.

Let’s Get Moving Bible game

God gave Samson his special strength in his hair. During this Bible game, we discussed different ways we can get strong. And one way is with exercise!

We all got moving with different exercises, ranging from jumping to squatting and the girls had a blast! (We used the “Let’s Get Moving Bible Game" found in the Bible Time Family Fun Pack.)

After the fun game, we reminded the girls that our strength comes from God.

"Hear My Prayer Oh Lord" Bible Activity

Even though Samson disobeyed God and allowed his enemy to trick him, God forgave him and answered Samson's prayer asking God to give him back his strength.

- In this Samson Bible activity the girls decorated a Cute Keepsake Box. We decided to use the box as a prayer box, where my daughters can put their prayer requests.

- We explained how to use a prayer box and that God will answer us when we pray.

Strong One More Time bible craft

Samson’s sin allowed his enemy to trick him and he lost his strength, but God never left Samson.

We used the Strong One More Time Bible Craft, to make a craft that is a reminder that God hears us when we pray.
