Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things.
Sin begins in our thoughts, which the Bible often calls “the heart”.
Jesus said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles them…” (Mark 7:20). No one commits the outward sin without first having committed it in his mind. If we want to grow in godliness, we must win the battle over sin in our thoughts.
So in a day when so much around us trains us to find the negative in life, we must aggressively think and pursue the character, the qualities, and the things of God's goodness.
Holy God, train my thoughts to think on the things that are of good and righteous in your eyes. Help me to live a life that is pleasing to you. Amen.
