Did you know that there are a total of 365 verses that tell us to fear not! One for every single day of the year! One of my favorite verses is 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” We have no need to fear because if God is for us who can be against us. Romans 8:31. The verse not only says we are to act without fear but it requires us to act with a sound mind, good judgement that is combined with a Godly love and motivated by his power. So rash decisions, we are not given license to ignore Godly rules but we are given license to move according to God’s will even with the world says no. Take a verse each day and rejoice in a fearless life.

UNDERSTANDING

For most, 2020 was brutal! If the United States Constitution could be used, then it was a violation of the 8th Amendment, cruel and unusual punishment. While I am being a bit dramatic few can argue that saying goodbye to 2020 is a welcomed event. But some many have little joy for and happiness for the new year. But, may I challenge you not to worry? This New Year, 2021, can be happy. God himself tells us in Isaiah 41:13 “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” Oh what peace and comfort floods our soul when we think God wants to and will hold my hand if I let him. So no matter the situation, with God on my side I can “...not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present [my] requests to God.” Philippians 4:6. So Happy New Year, not because we hope it will be better (we certainly do hope for that) but because God has been with us throughout this entire year and will continue to be with us even more so in the coming year. Happy New Year because “He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Revelations 21:5. Happy New Year, because we give God thanks for all He has done and all He will do.
