Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
Paul is appealing to fathers to train their children in the instruction of the Lord.
Fathers can make this happen by nurturing and correcting the children in the home — with a balance between nurture and correction. Fathers, be careful not to make your faith so full of rules and restrictions that it becomes impossible for your children to hear that they are your beloved children. In the same token, do not grant so much freedom that your children feel neglected and uncertain. Remember the father's influence and intentional training is so essential.
Happy Father’s Day to all you faithful fathers who do an amazing job of being an example of our Heavenly Father for our children. Enjoy this special day and honor the amazing father’s in your life.
Heavenly Father, please raise up parents, especially fathers, who will balance the challenging tasks of love, nurture, and correction, so that our children may know your love and grace. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
